The Dean’s Prize in Research and & Scholarship Committee at UCSF has awarded Luke Sang with the 2026 Dean’s Prize in Yearlong Research. His work has been recognized as a great contribution to the world of research and scholarship, and the quality of the academic environment in the School of Medicine. He will present his research, titled “Integrated Multi-Omics and Mechanistic Analyses Reveal Connexin 43–Dependent FAP Mitochondrial Transfer is Associated With Oxidative Fiber Regeneration After Injury”, at the Inquiry Symposium Award Ceremony.
His research describes how Cx43 plays a crucial role in facilitating mitochondrial transfer from FAPs to myogenic cells during muscle regeneration following IRI and is linked to increased oxidative fast-twitch fiber regeneration.
