SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 8, 2020) – Michael Davies, MD, a fourth year resident in the UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and current Research Resident in the Feeley-Liu Lab, is the 2020 recepient of the Steven P. Arnoczky Young Investigator Grant for Basic Science from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM)

Dr. Davies' project, entitled, "The Role of Age In Fibroadipogenic Progenitor-Mediated Muscle Degeneration Following Rotator Cuff Tears," is being funded over a two-year period. Dr. Davies plans to investigate the role of aging on the cellular and molecular characteristics of fibroadipogenic progenitors in order to assess their role in muscle degeneration as well as their regenerative potential as a function of age.
