SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 2, 2020) – Obiajulu (AJ) Agha, MD, a first year resident in the UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, was awarded 2nd Place for his presentation at the recent OREF California Region Resident Research Symposium, hosted virtually this year by the UCLA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery on July 23, 2020.

Dr. Agha's paper is entitled, "Human Rotator Cuff Tears Have an Endogenous, Inducible Stem Cell Source Capable of Improving Muscle Quality and Function after Rotator Cuff Repair."

“Congratulations to Dr. Agha,” said Dr. Brian Feeley, MD, a mentor to Dr. Agha.  “His research on this population of stem cells within human muscle represents an important and exciting therapeutic target for treating muscle degeneration after rotator cuff tears.”
